My passion is capturing human moments and telling visual stories that open the mind to new possibilities.
Dominique Taylor
I grew up in New Zealand in a diverse family of travelers. Some of my earliest memories are from the photographs my mother took during a six-month family trip around Europe in a van when I was 4 years old. This began my love for photography. Capturing everyday life in new places, with new faces and customs, helped develop my love and curiosity for the similarities and differences between humans.
I have a degree in Communications, majoring in journalism and specializing in photojournalism. Initially hoping to be a war photographer, I found myself in Vail, Colorado in 1996 and fell in love with the snow and snowboarding lifestyle. And though I loved the idea of pursuing and documenting big stories in dicey situations around the globe, I realized what I really loved was adventure, spontaneity, and variety.
Beginning in 2003, I spent 10 years honing my skills at the Vail Daily, first as a staff photographer and then as photo editor. In 2014, I ventured out as a freelance photographer specializing in lifestyle, portrait, event, and editorial photography. In addition to photographing for several local and national publications, I’m currently the photo editor of Eat magazine, Vail Valley Home magazine, and Beaver Creek magazine.
